Why Do Animals Adopt Other Species?

Do you sometimes wonder what is it like to be an animal?  How do they feel?  What do they think?  How do they see the world?

We are taught that humans are biologically superior to animals.  Our brain is different, and we have an opposable thumb of course….

Situations when animals adopt other species have always made me wonder… They also always make great news stories.  The question is: do they happen due to the hormonal release in the mother that promotes bonding, or are animals capable of feeling empathy and wanting to help a baby in need?

What do you think?  I’d love to hear your comments…
