Cat sitting in Valley Ranch

Valley Ranch’s apartment and townhome communities have a large cat population. Cats thrive in their own territory — no carriers, no car rides, no unfamiliar smells. A visit is 25 minutes: fresh water, food the way you portion it, a scooped box, play, and a look at how your cat is actually doing. You get a photo.

Sitters handle pills, insulin, sub-q fluids, eye drops, and inhalers. If a cat hides in a Legends Crossing townhome, a Manors at Valley Ranch unit, or an apartment off MacArthur, they sit on the floor and wait. They do not leave without seeing the cat.

A healthy adult cat needs at least one visit a day; kittens, seniors and cats on medication need two. Leaving a mound of food and one overflowing box to cover a week is not a plan we will agree to, however self-sufficient a cat appears.

Valley Ranch Canal Walkways — Over five miles of winding, landscaped canal paths that connect neighborhoods, ponds, and parks throughout the community. Leashed dogs welcome. This is our sitters’ daily go-to route for midday walks — scenic, shaded in sections, and right outside your door. These are Valley Ranch’s own canal paths.

Northwest Park — At 2800 Cheyenne, this is the largest park inside 75063 at just under 40 acres, with open ground, a spray park and room to actually stretch a walk out. It is the regular leashed-walk stop for sitters covering Valley Ranch.

Cimarron Park — Valley Ranch’s central park, close to 16 acres at 201 Red River Trail, with sports fields, a jogging loop and the Cimarron Park Aquatic Center. Good leashed walking, though busy on summer evenings when the pool is open.

Sam Houston Trails Park — Note the plural in the official name. At 101 East I-635 along the Elm Fork of the Trinity, this is the biggest park in the Irving system at roughly 182 acres and a trailhead onto the Campion Trail. If your dog needs a genuinely long walk, this is where we take her.

Campion Trail (Valley Ranch trailhead) — The crown jewel of Irving’s trail system. A 22-mile paved greenbelt running from Valley Ranch toward Las Colinas along the Elm Fork Trinity River. Wide, flat, well-maintained, with drinking fountains, covered picnic pavilions, and scenic river views. The nearest trailhead is at Sam Houston Trails Park off I-635. Irving Dog Park — The city’s off-leash park, just under five acres at 4140 Valley View Lane, with water on site and no restrooms. It is the closest dedicated dog park to Valley Ranch. $25 covers 25 minutes with one pet, additional pets are $3 each, and dog walks start at $23. Valley Ranch is mostly single-family and townhome living, so visits here tend to be straightforward — and the price is the same as everywhere else we work.

Is Valley Ranch its own city?

No — it is a master-planned community inside the City of Irving, sitting in ZIP 75063. Irving provides the police, fire and animal services. The reason it has its own page is that Valley Ranch’s layout, and particularly its canal network, makes dog walking here different enough from the rest of Irving to be worth explaining properly.

Can we address mail to Valley Ranch?

Not officially. The Postal Service recognizes only Irving as the city name for 75063, with no accepted alternate, so “Valley Ranch, TX” is not a deliverable city even though every resident and every realtor uses it. Put Irving on the envelope. When you book with us, tell us Valley Ranch — we route by street and neighborhood, and it tells us which sitter to send.

Are the Valley Ranch canals the same ones as in Las Colinas?

No, and this is the most common mix-up in Irving. Valley Ranch has its own network — over five miles of winding, landscaped canal paths connecting neighborhoods, ponds and parks throughout the community. Las Colinas has a separate system, the Mandalay Canal off Lake Carolyn, with restaurant frontage and a much more urban feel. Yours are residential and run right outside people’s doors, which is why they are our sitters’ daily go-to for midday walks.

Where’s the biggest park in Valley Ranch?

What about Cimarron Park?

Good leashed walking, with one caveat: summer evenings get busy once the fields and the pool fill up. If your dog does not love crowds, we will use the canal paths at that hour instead.

Is there an off-leash park nearby?

Nearby, yes. On our visits, no. On the clock our sitters keep dogs leashed, so we will not turn your dog loose in a run at any facility, however good. The closest one to Valley Ranch is Irving Dog Park at 4140 Valley View Lane, a little under five acres, with water on site and no restrooms — go yourself on a weekend. What your dog gets from us is the Valley Ranch canal network, roughly five miles of paths that are entirely separate from the Mandalay system over in Las Colinas.

How much of Valley Ranch sits inside your coverage?

All of it — the single-family streets, the townhome clusters, and the apartment and condo communities along the canals and near the ring roads. Because the canal paths connect so much of the community, a sitter covering Valley Ranch can usually reach several clients on foot from one another, which makes tight scheduling more reliable here than in most places.

Our townhome has no real yard. Is a 25-minute visit enough?

For most dogs, yes, if the timing is right. The canal paths mean a 25-minute visit here delivers a genuine walk rather than a lap of a parking lot, which is not true everywhere. For a young or high-energy dog we would suggest a midday walk on a fixed schedule instead of a single long visit — consistency does more than duration.

Do the canal paths flood or get slick?

They can. Landscaped canal paths sit low by design, and after heavy rain some stretches hold water or silt and get genuinely slippery. Our sitters reroute to the interior sidewalks when that happens rather than pushing through, and we will tell you which route we took. It is a small thing that matters if you have an older dog with bad hips.

Do we get to meet our sitter beforehand?

Yes — free, in your home, and no obligation to book afterward. Your sitter meets the animals, learns the house and settles access, whether that is a gate code, a garage keypad or a community gate. You will know the person’s name and face before anything is booked.

Are Valley Ranch sitters employees or contractors?

Do you look after cats here too?
