Founders Park, off Hensley Lane — the largest athletic complex in the city, and the perimeter is a good, flat, well-lit loop for an older dog who wants distance without hills.
Muddy Creek Preserve, 5351 Pleasant Valley Road — a natural-surface trail through genuinely undeveloped land. Our first suggestion for a reactive dog, because you can nearly always find a stretch with nobody on it. Watch for burrs in autumn and check paws afterwards.
Community Park, 800 Thomas Street, and Olde City Park near historic downtown — shaded, older trees, and close to the Brown House welcome center on North Ballard. Pleasant places to walk a dog who likes people.
Sage Creek Trail, 2906 Ryan Lane, and the Municipal Complex Trail at 300 Country Club, which includes a boardwalk section — a nice change of surface for a dog bored of concrete.
