On the last day of August, we are gonna squeeze our AUGUST employee of the month! We couldn’t close this month without talking about this amazing woman who is a shining star here at DFW Pet Sitting!

Lisa Craig has been hired this year, in March 2022. So she is somewhat new, but she has fitted in our culture and our company perfectly since day one. And now, with a handful of happy repeat clients, she is an integral part of our company, and we just can’t even imagine what we’d do without her!

How I became a Dog Walker in Colleyville

I became a professional pet sitter because I absolutely love animals! I have been around animals, primarily dogs, my entire life. And after retiring from my 32-year airline career, I wanted to get some exercise and play with dogs! What more could one ask for? All my friends want to do this when they retire, too! Because they see how much I enjoy it!

The owner told me that my client was uneasy around strangers, and would be shy and hide. After a little time, he would chatter to me while I was unlocking the door and happily greet me with twirls and tricks! He is such a sweet, loving soul, and a rescue as well. I had another eventful job this summer with rabbits, chickens, and dogs, oh my! It was a lot of fun chasing chickens (it was a first for me). And let me tell you about playing a game called “Don’t get bit while feeding the rabbits!”. The dogs were fun, as they always are!

Favorite Pet-Friendly Places

There is the Shannon Microbrewery in Keller that is very dog friendly. The Lazy Dog Restaurant in Euless has awesome food and welcomes pets on their patio. They even have a limited dog menu!

Hobbies and Interests

In my spare time, I foster dogs/cats for the Humane Society of North Texas. At the present time, I have 2 seven-week-old lab puppies in my care. My favorite thing is to socialize them with other dogs and people, and give them a place to be loved outside of a shelter. I also enjoy doing wine/liquor/beer “demos” at grocery and liquor stores. I have discovered so many new beverages that I never would have tried otherwise! Trying out new local wineries is another thing I really enjoy doing. Silver Dollar Winery in Bedford is small and quaint, the food is delish, and the manager is top-notch! I love to read, too, especially true crime and James Patterson and Janet Evonavich.

We have 5 dogs in our home, all rescues. There’s never a boring moment or a dry spot on the floor! My husband is a truck driver, so I have free time during the week to do things I enjoy the most! And luckily, my kids are animal lovers too! I’m sure they got it from me. Makes me so proud!
