Ahead of a GrapeFest weekend, or a trip out during the Christmas Capital stretch, a Grapevine cat is better left on her own furniture than loaded into a carrier. Twenty-five minutes buys fresh water, food portioned the way you do it, a clean litter box, playtime, and a note on how she is holding up. A photo goes out with it.

Sitters handle pills, insulin, sub-q fluids, eye drops, and inhalers. If a cat hides in a Silver Lake or Historic Downtown house they have never fully mapped, they sit on the floor and wait. They do not leave without seeing the cat.

Pet-Friendly Spots Our Grapevine Sitters Love

Grapevine has more park land per resident than most of its neighbors, and a good share of it sits along the lake. These are the spots our sitters know:

The Bark Park at Bear Creek Park — Fourteen acres spread across both sides of Bear Creek Park, with enclosed off-leash paddocks divided by size — under 25 pounds on one side, 25 and over on the other. There is an all-weather section with a motion-activated splash pad, an agility course, a dog washing station, and shade structures. Two details catch people out: the park closes every night at 10 p.m. and reopens at 5:30 a.m., and every Thursday it stays closed for maintenance until noon. If you have a standing Thursday-morning habit, that one stings.

The city’s posted rules there are stricter than most: dogs have to be off leash once inside, pinch, prong, and spiked collars have to come off, and no food or treats of any kind are allowed in the enclosure — human or canine. Dogs need to be fully vaccinated, over six months old, and free of illness or parasites. No glass containers, and children under twelve need an adult with them. Waste bags are provided.

Our own policy is narrower than the city’s. Sitters keep your dog leashed on every paid visit, including inside a fenced dog park, and because treats are banned in the enclosure anyway, we do not rely on them there. Off-leash time at the Bark Park is a good outing — it is one to take with your dog yourself.

Parr Park — A large park on the south side with extensive playground structures, a sprayground, and the Rock Art Trail running through it. Wide paths and long sightlines make it an easy leashed walk for a dog who is still learning manners around strollers and bikes.

Bear Creek Trail and the Lakeview Trails — The connected trail system is where most of our Grapevine dog walks actually happen. Shaded stretches, predictable surfaces, and enough length that a high-energy dog comes home genuinely tired.

The Grapevine Lake parks — Oak Grove Park, Meadowmere Park, Rockledge Park, and Katie’s Woods Park all sit on the lake side of town, and Meadowmere and Lakeview both have boat ramps. Lake wind means water and shade matter more than distance in July — our sitters cut walks short and go early when the heat calls for it.

Dove Park, Heritage Park, and Glade Crossing Park — Closer-in neighborhood parks that turn a midday visit into a real walk without a drive across town. Grapevine Parks and Recreation runs all of it out of 1175 Municipal Way.

Historic Downtown and Main Street — Older homes on tighter lots, and a steady stream of visitors two blocks away. Foot traffic and festival noise mean a dog here is used to strangers passing the window — but a dog left alone all evening still notices. Midday visits do a lot of good on this side of town.

Silver Lake, Dove, and Lakeside — Three of the neighborhoods we are called into most. Established streets, mature shade, and short walking loops that work for seniors and for dogs who overheat easily.

My dog is still learning manners around bikes and strollers. Anywhere easier?

Parr Park on the south side. It has extensive playground structures, a sprayground and the Rock Art Trail running through it, but the thing that makes it useful for a green dog is the wide paths and long sightlines — you can see what is coming and give him room before he reacts. It is a much fairer place to practice than a narrow shaded trail.

Do you board pets or take them anywhere?

Neither. Every visit happens in your home: food, water, litter, medication, a leashed walk from your own door, time spent with your animals, and a check of the house before the sitter locks up. Nothing is boarded, no pet rides in a van with animals we do not know, and no one is dropped at a daycare.

Can we meet the sitter before booking?

Yes, free, at your house, before the first paid visit. She meets the pets, looks at the gate and the alarm keypad, and takes down your routine in her own words. It is as much your chance to size her up as it is hers to learn the house, and there is no obligation to book once it is done.

Is the person coming to my house an employee?

Yes — a W-2 employee, background-checked before hire, bonded, and covered by our commercial liability insurance. We do not use contractors and we do not pass work to third parties. It costs us more to run the business this way, and it is the reason there is a company standing behind the visit rather than an individual.

Will your sitter give my pet his medication?

Yes. Oral doses, insulin injections, sub-q fluids, eye drops and inhalers are all standard for our staff. We record the drug, the dose, the timing and your vet’s name and number in your file rather than trusting anyone to recall it. If a dose has to be given at a specific hour, mention it at booking and the visit times get set around it.

What if my sitter cannot make a visit?

Another trained employee covers it and we tell you it happened. Grapevine sits in the middle of a cluster of cities this team works, so a substitute is close by. Your instructions are stored with us, so whoever arrives already knows the entry, the portions and anything unusual about your animals.
