Cat sitting in Argyle

Unity Park — 135 Crawford Road, and the center of town life. Just over four acres holding a three-field baseball complex with a batting cage, several soccer fields, a covered pavilion wired with electricity, and — the part that matters to us — a 1.25-mile jogging path that runs alongside a creek, with nature kiosks and benches along it. That path is the most reliable dog walk inside the Town limits.

Argyle’s second gathering space — In 2024 the Town Council approved buying 4.6 acres of centrally located undeveloped land for it, and a volunteer group of residents is steering the design. Nothing is built yet, so we will not send you there, but it is coming.

Harvest by Hillwood — The development on the Argyle and Northlake side, with its own trail network and a dog park that residents use heavily. It is a private community amenity rather than a Town park, so access follows your residency rather than ours.

Lantana — Green-space paths threading through the neighborhoods just north of Argyle. Flat, well-kept, and the easiest place in the area to fit a proper walk into a 25-minute visit.

Twin Coves Park — A short drive into Flower Mound on Lake Grapevine, for the dog who is genuinely not satisfied by a sidewalk. Longer, rougher, and better for a working breed.

Working farms and ranches — North Denton County still has livestock on the ground, alpacas included. Several of our Argyle clients keep animals as well as pets, and our sitters are used to gates that matter, water troughs, and feed that is not measured in cups.

Argyle is not really one place. It is a small old town center with large-lot country around it and two big planned communities on its edges, and a sitter who does not know which is which will be late or lost. All of it sits in 76226.

Old Town Argyle and the Crawford Road area — Unity Park, the ball fields and the creek path are here, so this is the part of Argyle where a dog can be walked somewhere rather than just around. Older homes, mature trees, and streets that are dark by design.

Harvest by Hillwood — Sidewalks, trails, an amenity dog park, and neighbors close enough to notice a strange car. Our sitters drive their own unmarked vehicles here for the same reason they do everywhere: a signed van parked outside announces that you are away.

Lantana — Just north, with its own green-space path network. Easy walking, and close enough that a sitter can cover Lantana and Argyle proper in one run.

The FM 407 corridor — The spine of the town. Most of our Argyle routes touch it, which is why we can usually add a same-week visit here without much notice.

The acreage — Multi-acre properties, barns, gates and cattle guards on the county roads. These take the longest to brief and the longest to learn, so the free meet-and-greet here is less a formality than a walk of the whole property.

Bartonville and Double Oak — Immediately next door, same sitters, same rates. If you are on the boundary, your address decides your coverage, not the sign at the town line.

Argyle Leash Rules and Animal Control

Worth knowing if you live here, and worth knowing before you leave town. Argyle’s animal control is a division of the Police Department, but the work is contracted out to All American Dogs, reachable on 972-382-DOGS (3647).

The Town’s confinement ordinance prohibits dogs running at large: a dog must be kept on its owner’s property, or on a leash whenever it is off that property. Cats are specifically exempt from that requirement. State law separately requires dogs and cats to be current on rabies vaccinations, and the Town asks that animals wear the rabies tag. Animal control officers carry microchip scanners, so keeping your chip registration current is the single cheapest insurance policy you own. The full ordinance sits in Chapter 2 of the Town’s Code of Ordinances.

Here is the part that shapes how we work. The contract provides a minimum of only one to two hours of patrol per week in Argyle. Routine service calls are answered 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week excluding holidays, with genuine emergencies — an injured animal with no owner present, a bite, loose livestock in the road, an aggressive animal — answered around the clock. Impounded animals are held a minimum of five days. Free trapping is available Monday to Friday when the temperature is above 40 and below 98 degrees.

So a dog that slips a gate in Argyle at eight in the evening is unlikely to meet anyone official for a while.
